Yes finally I did it, yesterday I tie-dyed the white jeans that have been sitting in my drawer for the past year. I recently found 2 boxes of black Tintex fabric dye at my local dollar store & thankfully after staring at the box of dye on my desk for about a week yesterday I just did it. Now I did not chronicle the whole process a. because there wasn’t much too it AT ALL and b. there are like 8k YouTube videos on how to tie-dye already! So the whole process literally took me about an hour a half if that. I made a short video showing how I tied the rubber bands on sections of the jeans and removed them. I’m ecstatic at how great they turned out, a $10 or $12 pair of jeans from forever 21 revamped so simply who would have thought lol! If you have any questions, just leave a comment ENJOY!
Oh & excuse me for looking like WHO DON DID IT & RAN in the video, but it was very impromptu and I even hesitated to post it but I’m like if that’s what you look like early on a monday morning then that’s what you look like lol. Also excuse all of my screwed up faces, I talk with a lot of facial expression. Ok enough with the disclaimers ENJOY YA’LL!
It’s such a beautiful day today here in jersey/nyc, the sun is shining & the temperature is just right. I have to be honest, lately I’ve been bored & uninspired thus the lack of posts. I realized that I’ve gotten into a routine of just publishing new posts just to keep my daily ritual going. If I’m bored with the blog, I can only imagine how you as my readers are feeling and I do apologize for the neglect & carelessness. Now that is not to say that I won’t post something new if I’m feeling it, but I think It should be more organic & not forced. I’m optimistic things will change, sometimes you just get in a rut & then that small bit of inspiration comes to lift you up & remind you why you do what you do. No worries, I’m not planning to do away with blogging all together just yet but I will seek out new avenues of inspiration. Sometimes we need to switch it up & not keep ourselves pigeonholed!
Before receiving this video I was not too familiar with stylist Mia Morgan, but after reviewing the video & her work I’m a fan. An incessant stickler for presentation, I found this video to be a wonderful introduction to the world of styling from Mia’s perspective. Sometimes people in fashion especially those that are more accomplished can just be plain EXTRA, but Mia’s poise & humility exudes throughout the entire interview. I have an infinite amount of respect and admiration for real stylists(everyone & their mother claim to be stylists these days), I think you innately have the gift or you don’t! I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did & have a wonderful weekend! Visit Mia’s site to view her complete port www.miamorgan.com.
That’s all I’m going to allow myself to give you, if you want to see the rest of this amazing editorial then you’ll have to CLICK HERE! My boy Quan has done it again, he never ceases to amaze me. This is what you want to see in fashion fresh innovation oozing off the pages of your fav mags NOT REDUNDANCY. The thing I love the most about Mr. Quan is how he creates a BIG SOMETHING out of virtually nada. I could go on for days about how much of a creative inspiration he is, but I’ll restrain myself and let his work do the talking!
Dubbed Dirty Disco Swedish Designer Jannica Hedlund transports us onto the dance floor with her recent #6 collection from her label Design By Issa. Inspired by techno bands like Format B & Markus Hamm, imagine yourself twirling & shimmying to the blaring sounds in a massive defunct warehouse clad with old paint smears on concrete walls. A range of airy silhouette’s that flow with your body’s movement! Hedlund uses a variation of neckline details on the dresses and blouses (plunging,v-neck,boatneck etc.) to accentuate the simple designs. The graphic print Kimono is a classic addition to the solid line. Each piece, from the lavender high-waist pants to the black boat neck dress are easily transitional for work or play. After reviewing her previous collections, I can honestly say that Jannica Hedlund’s work has consistently evolved and this #6 collection is by far her best work to date! She excellently conveyed her brand’s message through this collection:
Dress up. Undress. Dress down. Get dressed. Well-dressed. Dresses. The world looks good looking good. No-compromise clothes, fair fabrics, finery and freedom. Real impact. Inspired by it all. Cruel crispness. Heavy minimalism. More and less, more or less. Simply hot simplicity.
Please visit Design by Issa to view the entire line & to see the fabulous short created for the #6 collection! Oh & I can’t forget to give credit where it’s due, thanks to Bespoke Bloke for the introduction!
