FEATURE: Fresh n Fierce

1.Where are you located and how long have you been designing?
We’re Located in Brooklyn, New York and have been designing for about 2 years.

2.How did you come up with the name for your line/label?
When I thought about putting together a clothing line, I wanted something that would be motivating, inspiring and positive, the name had to be powerful. Everything I do is guided by the hand of God, so I wanted a name that would reflect that, so I started looking for the word God Blessed in several languages, I came across Deus which means God in Portuguese and Beni which means Blessed in French, The combination sounded perfect, hence, the name Deus Beni.

3.What inspires your designs?
I try to make sure that each designs portray something positive or is aimed at teaching, each designs has a meaning behind it. For example, the Africa Design represents our Journey. We originated in Africa but then spread out through out the world and got mixed with many different races and nationalities, that’s what the swirls and its various colors represent.

4.What are one of your favorite Indie Designers/Brands?
I can’t say, there’s just so many out there that have different designs that I like. I’m really feeling all independent designers, we’ve made big strives in capturing the attention of the main stream and becoming competitive with some of the big brands. Being an independent clothing line is alot of hard work, so I’m loving the effort that’s being put forth.

5.What’s next for your designs?
Right now we’re really focused on building a solid foundation to ensure that we stay true to our original purpose. The website is coming soon, so definitely look out for Deusbeni.com.
